The use of smart antennas


The use of smart antennas in mobile communications mainly includes anti-fading, anti-jamming, increasing system capacity and positioning of mobile stations.

(1) anti-fading


Using the smart antenna to control the receiving direction, the antenna adaptively constitutes the directivity of the beam, so that the gain in the delay wave direction is minimized, and the influence of the signal fading is reduced. Smart antennas can also be used for diversity, reducing fading.

(2) anti-interference


High-gain, narrow-beam smart antenna array for WCDMA base stations, can reduce the mobile station interference to the base station to improve system performance. The anti-jamming application is essentially spatial filtering.

(3) increase the system capacity


In order to meet the huge demand for mobile communications services, should be as much as possible to expand the existing base station capacity and coverage. To minimize the number of base stations required for a new network, the spectrum utilization efficiency must be improved in a variety of ways. One way is to use smart antenna technology, with multi-beam plate antenna instead of ordinary antenna.

(4) to achieve mobile station positioning


At present, the cellular mobile communication system can only determine the cell in which the mobile station is located. If the base station uses the smart antenna array, once the signal is received, that is, the response of each antenna element connected to the response generated by the corresponding processing, access to the signal space feature vector and matrix, thus obtaining the signal power estimation and arrival direction , That is, the orientation of the user terminal.
